Manafort Brothers, Inc. was selected to perform the demolition of a 4-story, 350,000-square-foot precast parking garage located on an active hospital campus. The project required careful planning and execution to maintain full hospital operations while ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

Pre-demolition activities included the abatement of more than five miles of asbestos-containing caulk. This work was completed under stringent environmental controls to meet all regulatory requirements and to support the accelerated project schedule.

Demolition efforts involved the removal and recycling of approximately 35,000 tons of concrete. Manafort utilized specialized equipment and a coordinated logistics plan to safely dismantle the structure within the tight constraints of the campus. A total of 21 major crane picks—each exceeding 25 tons—were performed directly above an active hospital loading dock and main lobby area. These operations required precise engineering, continuous monitoring, and close communication with hospital facilities personnel to avoid disruption to daily operations.

Throughout the project, Manafort implemented comprehensive safety measures, detailed phasing plans, and real-time coordination with hospital leadership. All work was completed on schedule, without injuries or incidents, and with zero interruption to hospital services.

This project underscores Manafort’s expertise in complex demolition, environmental abatement, and construction management in sensitive, high-traffic environments.
