Manafort Brothers Inc. was selected to complete the demolition of the former Remington Arms Munitions Factory. The total area of demolished factory space was 275,000 square feet. Due to the compromised structure of the factory, an alternate work practice (AWP) was used to demolish and abate the factory in a safe manner. A total of 35,000 tons of asbestos and PCB-impacted waste was disposed of, and 40,000 CY of clean fill material was imported to be used as backfill. In order to create a flat parcel, existing concrete foundations were removed and backfilled with clean fill.
