Located in historic downtown New London, the National Coast Guard Museum is an 80,000 SF facility currently under construction that will feature three main exhibit decks honoring the service, heritage, and over 230-year history of the United States Coast Guard.

Manafort Transit was selected as the Specialty Contractor responsible for the demolition of the existing pier and construction of the new marine bulkhead upgrades required to support the proposed museum structure along the Thames River waterfront.
Manafort’s scope of work included the demolition of the existing pier, installation of a new sheet pile bulkhead, and placement of lightweight fill to bring the area up to grade. Due to the project’s constrained footprint and proximity to Amtrak’s electrified Northeast Corridor, a significant portion of the work was executed from barges and cranes positioned waterside on the Thames River.
Leveraging our extensive marine construction experience and diverse self-performance capabilities, Manafort successfully completed the project safely, on schedule, and within budget — continuing our long-standing tradition of delivering complex infrastructure projects with precision and quality.
