Manafort Transit is proud to announce that the Terminal 5 Pier Design-Build Project at the Port of Davisville in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, has been recognized by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) New England Chapter with the Infrastructure Project Award for projects valued at less than $100 million.

The award recognizes the successful execution of a landmark marine infrastructure project that represents the first new pier construction at Quonset in nearly 70 years. Developed for the Quonset Development Corporation, the Terminal 5 Pier project is helping expand the Port of Davisville’s capabilities while supporting the continued growth of Rhode Island’s blue economy and maritime industries.

As the Design-Build Prime Contractor, Manafort Brothers and Manafort Transit were responsible for constructing the approximately 1,200-foot-long pier, which includes a 690-foot-long variable-width pile-supported platform, a series of mooring and breasting dolphins connected by aluminum catwalks, and new blue economy support docks and a boat ramp.

Manafort self-performed the majority of the work, including pile driving, civil and utility activities, and installation of precast pier components. The project scope included the installation of more than 200 steel pipe piles, pile trimming, pipe jacket installation, concrete placement for pile plugs, excavation and backfill, placement of precast pile caps and planks, installation of underwater anodes, and construction of the concrete topping deck.

This recognition from CMAA New England reflects the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of the entire project team. Through innovative construction methods and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency, Manafort successfully delivered a transformative infrastructure project that will serve the region for decades to come.
