The Dartmouth College Class of 1982 Engineering and Computer Science Center project located in Hanover, NH was a significant expansion of the Thayer School of Engineering making it one of the largest academic buildings on campus. The LEED Platinum certified building is home to Dartmouth College’s expanded engineering and computer science programs as well as a 340-space parking garage below the academic spaces for faculty and students. Manafort Brothers, Inc. was selected to perform the concrete work for this innovative project.

Manafort’s scope of work for the cast in place concrete foundations included footings, walls, retaining walls, grade beams, columns, beams and shear walls. The lowest parking level is 50+ feet below the proposed ground level of the building requiring 60+ foot tall concrete foundation walls to be constructed in multiple lifts.
In addition, Manafort constructed the slabs on grade, shored structural slabs, slabs on metal deck, steel column encasements, stairs, and curbs for the Engineering and Computer Science Center building. Manafort coordinated diligently with the project team and MEP trades to eliminate potential conflicts between the structural concrete and the MEP system penetrations throughout the entire 160,000 SF building.
The Manafort team’s experience in working with complex formwork and challenging site conditions led to safe, successful, high quality, on-time, and on-budget project completion.
